Is it really December already? Just hearing a date beginning in the 12th month conjures up those familiar holiday sights, sounds, and smells. December is snow, white lights, evergreens, candy canes, jingling bells, plaid pants, and oodles of fun family rituals. In our large family of 5 children we have several different family traditions around the holidays.
My favorite tradition is one that started quite by accident by my grandfather many years ago. You see my grandfather, Poppops to us, had this pair of plaid dress pants he wore faithfully each Christmas. He was a dapper but thrifty sort of guy and I’m certain these trousers were a very high quality fashionable purchase when he originally bought them. Only worn once or twice a year these pants remained in perfect condition year after year. However after a good decade or more of More >
Halloween is just a week away! Baby’s first Halloween can be a memorable experience for parents, and few things are cuter than a baby in costume. Hearing your baby’s first words is such an amazing milestone, and as a proud parent the feeling is almost indescribable. Since these first words are so precious, we wanted to ask our fans on Facebook and Twitter to share their baby’s first words. Apart from the typical, “mama” and “dada” we received some interesting responses! Check them out below.
Since pets are such important members of the family, it’s no surprise that many fans said that their little one’s first words were either cat or dog. Baby Einstein fan, Joanna, shared that her daughter’s first word was actually their beagle’s name, Bailey! Another fan, Jenn, says that her 11 month old says “meow” to their cat. How cute!
Fans Cristina and Susan shared that their baby’s first words were “no” and “uh oh.” Liz’s fun-loving little one’s first words were “tickle” and “clap”! Baby More >
When my oldest son came into this world at 10lbs he seemed much older than he really was. Because of this and the fact that I had somehow forgotten everything I had ever learned about babies, I believed he could accomplish things much sooner than most. Of course now I realize being a new Mom I was a little overly ambitious about what he was capable of achieving. Because of this overly-ambitious attitude I almost always had my camera right by my side, ready and waiting to capture my son’s every first.
Soon enough I got an opportunity when at only 2 1/2 weeks my son decided to roll over. Had it not been for my camera, no one would have ever believed me! Having the camera on hand also came in handy at 4 months when he was eating his first foods and uttered the words “num nums,” or at 5 months when I took him outside to play in the grass More >
