Tummy time is an important strengthening exercise for babies, but it can also be an opportunity to play and bond with your little one. While your baby starts to gain control of her muscles, you can have fun together with some simple games. If your pediatrician feels the time is right, make the most of it with these tummy time tips:
Laying Down With Lullabies Lay down and put baby close on your chest so she can lift her head to look up at you. Once you’ve made eye contact, start to softly sing her a lullaby. She’ll be able to feel the vibration of your voice and feel soothed. You might also want to try holding her close as you rock very gently from side to side.
Delightful Distraction Not all babies enjoy tummy time, so if your little one fusses, try to incorporate something she likes as a distraction. Find a toy that lights up or makes More >

Today is the summer solstice, marking the official start to summer! Warm weather and plenty of sunshine make it the perfect time to introduce your baby to the outdoors. We’ve come up with a few fun ways to make the most of the season with your little one.
Backyard Beach You don’t need to live near a beach to introduce your baby to the wonderful world of sand and surf! With just a few supplies, you can bring the delights of the beach to your own backyard. Set up a colorful beach blanket on the lawn. Put baby in a bathing suit, or just his diaper. Don’t forget the sunscreen and a protective hat! If you have a portable stereo, set the scene with the aquatic sounds of our Baby Neptune CD. Fill a pail or shallow tub with water and show baby how to drop in different objects, letting him observe how some seem sink while others float.* Let More >
When my oldest son came into this world at 10lbs he seemed much older than he really was. Because of this and the fact that I had somehow forgotten everything I had ever learned about babies, I believed he could accomplish things much sooner than most. Of course now I realize being a new Mom I was a little overly ambitious about what he was capable of achieving. Because of this overly-ambitious attitude I almost always had my camera right by my side, ready and waiting to capture my son’s every first.
Soon enough I got an opportunity when at only 2 1/2 weeks my son decided to roll over. Had it not been for my camera, no one would have ever believed me! Having the camera on hand also came in handy at 4 months when he was eating his first foods and uttered the words “num nums,” or at 5 months when I took him outside to play in the grass More >
