This past Saturday we took a trip to the pumpkin patch! The patch we visited is about an hour away from our home and it was the first time any of us had ever been. To say that it’s a popular place in the fall would be a big understatement.
The sunflower field was our first stop. Kynlee enjoyed running through all of the flowers! They were simply gorgeous and made for a perfect photo backdrop! However, getting Kynlee to sit and “pose” with the pumpkins proved to be a much more difficult task than I had anticipated. She was too busy looking at everything else but she did stop to check them out every once in a while . She also enjoyed playing with some cotton for the first time.
At the patch, they had hundreds of pumpkins already picked, but you could also pick your own pumpkins if you wanted to! Other fun things included (several) More >
When my oldest son came into this world at 10lbs he seemed much older than he really was. Because of this and the fact that I had somehow forgotten everything I had ever learned about babies, I believed he could accomplish things much sooner than most. Of course now I realize being a new Mom I was a little overly ambitious about what he was capable of achieving. Because of this overly-ambitious attitude I almost always had my camera right by my side, ready and waiting to capture my son’s every first.
Soon enough I got an opportunity when at only 2 1/2 weeks my son decided to roll over. Had it not been for my camera, no one would have ever believed me! Having the camera on hand also came in handy at 4 months when he was eating his first foods and uttered the words “num nums,” or at 5 months when I took him outside to play in the grass More >
With three little ones, it seems like “firsts” are at least a monthly occurrence in our home. Josiah just started walking and little Trinity just started smiling. What happiness that brings on both counts! There’s nothing better than looking down at a sweet little face and seeing it light up with the pure joy of learning something new.
Watching Josiah take his first wobbling steps right around the time he turned a year old was so exciting for everyone involved! The first time I caught him walking, I was cleaning up their room. I heard him let out a belly laugh and looked up just in time to see him stumbling the few steps from one side of his crib to the other. Of course, I immediately called hubby to tell him the exciting news! He was in class and a bit disappointed that he’d missed the milestone, but was able to watch his little More >
One of the most important things we can give our children is a love for reading. How do we do this? We do this by giving our little ones (including babies) every opportunity to discover books.
In our house we keep a large basket filled with colorful, fun, soft cloth books and chunky board books. We keep this basket in our living room where the books can easily be accessed by our baby and toddler throughout the day. It always pleases me when I see one of my children enthralled in a book because I know it is increasing their intelligence and growing their imagination!
When my children were babies I gave them each a soft cloth book of their very own. It was fun to watch my babies explore the books for the first time. Slowly turning pages, slapping the book with their chubby little hands, wide eyed as they discover new colors and pictures! More >
In honor of the holiday season, we’d like to share a very special guest post from Baby Einstein GM Susan McLain!
Fun, laughs, exhaustion, happiness . . . what a full and exciting year this has been! With two daughters, 4 and 1, the year has been chock full of unforgettable moments – like my little one learning how to use her voice – to babble, sing and even scream – and, boy can she scream. Or, my older daughter finding her way around her preschool, becoming confident as the world, and, people in her world, opened up in a whole new and exciting way.
For me, this was a year of figuring out how to balance a full time job and TWO children – last year I was still in the newborn fog – and learning that there are so many people out there to help you through your times of struggle… and moments of joy.
We gave a Discovery Kit and a video camera to three families with little ones and asked them to capture their holiday moments together. Here’s a look at some of our favorite moments . . .
We wish you and your family a safe, happy and joyous time together this Holiday season. May your 2011 be filled with many more wonderful discoveries!
